A collage of the airplane food going from Stockholm to Sydney. We got so much food! I’m happy we’ve already booked the ticket back in December again with Thai Airways 🙂

We are soon arriving at Arlanda
We are soon arriving at Arlanda. We left Örebro at 8:30 this morning. Our flight leaves at 14:30, so we’ll have some time to relax, which is nice. But first, a short summary of the past week.
The past week has contained getting back from Cologne and Zurich, hectic packing, cleaning of our apartments, and a few golden moments.
On Tuesday, we met up with Claes, Jonathan, Johanna, and Johan at Yellow Fellow. We had a great time, eating, drinking, and talking. I’m looking forward to more evenings like that when we get back.
On Wednesday, after cleaning the apartment, I returned the key. After that, full focus laid on cleaning Linnea’s apartment. When we were finished, we celebrated by having a sundae at the ice cream parlour in Hjortkvarn.
Back to the present, in three and a half hours our flight takes off. We have said our farewells, but we’ll keep in touch!
Love,
Gustav

Just woke up from a bad dream
Just woke up from a bad dream I was having. I dreamed that I hadn’t packed and that I was desperately stressed needing to go somewhere. The “resfeber” is starting to get to me.
At least I feel better waking up to see my room in its current state. If anything, I have my stuff packed!
Only one more day until the flight to Australia!

What’s up with the eurotrip?
I thought that you might wonder why we all of a sudden went on a eurotrip. After all this blog is supposed to be about Australia, right?
Well, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity when we finally had some vacation to visit some of my European buddies from when I lived in Zurich three years ago. So we decided to spend one of the holiday weeks we got before going to Australia going around Germany and Switzerland. That was now last week and time really flew by. I wanted to make this post explaining a bit earlier but at the same time we had a packed schedule and I didn’t want to spend the only time off at the computer.
First we made it to Stockholm Arlanda on June 26th (just after Midsummer) and stayed at a hotel because our flight on the 27th was early in the morning and we didn’t feel like staying up the entire night going by bus to Arlanda. I’m really happy we made that decision, because the travelling went so much smoother when we weren’t super tired. The hotel was very nice too, with it’s own pool and huge breakfast buffé in the morning.
I went with the most unhealthy breakfast possible. But it tasted sooo good. Totally worth it.
I realize now we have much more photos from the eurotrip to post. If you don’t mind the blog being about something else a part from Australia I want to get around writing some more about our experiences and not just show the Instagram posts. But at this moment we’re back in Linköping Sweden and I really need to finish up packing my apartment today. Seriously. It’s only three more days until we fly to Australia!
This past Sunday was my last day working at IKEA
This past Sunday was my last day working at IKEA… before going to Australia that is!
So I was spending the Sunday working in the children’s play area called Småland, instead of being in the actual landscape Småland in Sweden where my family’s summer house is (that I mentioned in my earlier post). By the way, I took the above photo when “Småland” wasn’t in use. I wouldn’t have my phone out if there were kids there just so you know. They have just renovated the entire space, so I took the photo when my colleagues and I got to see it for the first time after the renovation.
I also realize that I probably sound über-swedish writing about midsummer, my blond boyfriend and IKEA in the same day, but what to do… that’s just what’s happening at the moment 😉
Anyway, I really like working at IKEA and I think they’re a great employer. Just the fact that they let me take 6 months off and go to Australia without any hassle at all and guarantee that my job is still there when I get back is awesome. So I recommend IKEA to all my friends and other students that would like to work while they study. The colleagues are great, the customers are usually all nice and friendly and you gain a lot of experience working with people.
A funny side note is that we’re currently three in my class at university that all work in the same IKEA warehouse. We were almost going to be four this summer, so we’ll see how many DPU:are that we can become before I leave the warehouse entirely. Whenever that is, my gut says I’m going to stay there for at least another year.
But I think that’s about enough IKEA for a while now, congrats if you made it this far into the post without getting sick of my rambling!
Have a lovely Midsummer’s Day, all the best
Linnea
There’s an old Swedish saying
There’s an old Swedish saying that if you pick seven different kinds of flowers and put them under the pillow on Midsummer’s Eve, you will dream of Mr Right. Well, I think I’ve already found him.
Gustav picked more than seven different types of flowers (it was at least ten) and gave them to me yesterday without me even asking. Now there’s a keeper :*
